Is USB audio output to PC possible?

hi all!

appreciate feedback guys can provide!

have mid-2012 mbp, windows10 video editing pc, , polk hampden (usb, 3.5mm, bluetooth inputs) speakers use own dac. @ same workstation.

ultimately, quality audio both computers able play simultaneously through speakers. allow me utilize pc resources editing , rendering, while playing music or whathaveyou mbp.

currently, have speakers connected pc via usb , mbp pc via 3.5mm cable:

setup functional, sound mbp pretty bad since it's being processed mbp sound card, pc sound card, and dac on speakers.

i've had few ideas how might accomplish goal, feels shot in dark:
1. usb transfer cable between mbp , pc might allow audio in/out two?
2. add bluetooth adapter pc , pair mbp might allow audio connection?
3. find usb splitter allow mbp , pc both connect directly speakers?

there's lot don't know way computers see each other, not mention they're cross-platform.

let me know if have ideas or if know 1,2 or 3 above not possible.

software alternatives:

a. install shairport-sync (it's free, can install brew) on mac , stream audio using airplay windows pc (you must install tuneblade on windows able stream airplay audio, it's $9 or so). lossless, perfect cd quality audio.

b. use airfoil windows , stream bluetooth audio airfoil satellite in mac. not lossless airplay solution way better analog approach using.

hardware alternative:

c. install usb dongle optical audio output on pc, install usb dongle or sound card on mac optical audio input , connect both using , optical cable. lossless cd quality (and higher) audio.


recommend option a, best price/quality ratio.
