every often, macbook pro makes little "error" honk noise. can @ time , can't link particular thing i'm doing. few seconds after wakes, has done minute me watching youtube video. nothing pops up, nothing seems untoward. there way of finding out why it's doing it?   only time have ever gotten sound calendar reminder, birthday or i've put calendar app. have popped out notifications tab , looked @ lately? i installed 10.13 on partition on system ssd on macbook pro. have 2 partitions switch between solid stable 10.6.8 system , whatever new attempt @ osx comes out. realize ended forcing 10.13 install hfs formatted volume. apparently can sort of run way not recommended? have in fact seen 2 issues far. once waking sleep didn't turn screen on. see string of complaints random occurrences of online. possibly new bug , not related? updating 10.13.1 10.13.2 left system in state internet connection no longer possible (through app store or browser app). allrighty then... roll 10.13.1. right. best practice run dueling systems on single ssd when 1 needs hfs+ , can't use new format , other isn't supposed run on old format? if there's compromise made, there flag set in 10.13 make behave hfs? thanks!   Forums Macs macOS

1- have installed nvidia geforce gtx 765m sager laptop 2011 imac 27. works fine except no boot screen or brightness control (i haven't checked if lightning port supports external monitor). 2- have had lot of success flashing pc video cards work mac pros (ati hd 5770, ati hd 7950, nvidia gtx 680 mainly) geniuses on site , @ netkas.org. conversant general procedure of backing existing bios in windows or dos (using atiflash or nvflash), using terminal patch bios in osx , going windows or dos reflash card patched bios. 3- know apple used both nvidia geforce gtx 755m , nvidia geforce gtx 775m in late 2013 imac 27's. so... has or can "frankenstein" efi bios 1 or both of 2 apple cards work on aforementioned card? me out and, have read, out @ least few other people. right injustice apple has inflicted on user community (especially 2011 imac 27's , melting ati video cards).

sorry if overly general question, i'm looking advice on imac best situation. i've never purchased new imac before, i'm not sure model fill needs without being crazy overkill. system needs serve 2 primary purposes. 1 act media server stream media our various other devices. use plex on our iphones, ipads, , apple tvs, , imac serve plex media server. second function work system wife logo design , hand lettering work. uses ipad pro of initial design , lettering; however, uses adobe illustrator on mac final editing , exporting of work. i'm not familiar enough illustrator know how cpu and/or video card hungry are. base model 21.5" or 27" plenty of power? 8gb of ram enough, or should @ 16gb? main reason i've been leaning towards 27" model because of ability upgrade ram. if 8gb more enough our needs though, i'd willing consider 21.5" version. actual size of screen isn't either wife or myself concerned about. other quest
