Banding in "Calibration" and crushed blacks on Netflix

hey, all. have samsung js8500 , appletv 4k. i've got tv setup correctly far can tell , atv set hdr 4:2:2. have 2 interesting problems fault of tv, atv, or streaming source.

first gradient banding. i've noticed in calibration images in video settings of atv in screen savers , netflix's hdr calibration videos. banding less worse set 4:2:0 still there. 10 bit display in hdr mode, shouldn't there no banding?

second problem crushing of blacks point there visible boarder between subtle detail , complete black. far, i've been able produce during stranger things 2. flickers on , off during show in dark scenes (which of show). there detail visible in dark areas 1 second , detail turns black. shot change, there detail in shadows again, , then, suddenly, shadows crushed black. turned off dynamic black/contrast controls on tv , still happened. made go away setting atv sdr mode. can't make happen in other netflix hdr shows better call saul , master of none, shows never quite dark stranger things 2 @ darkest.

 

i'm not @ home, looking on phone, think better call saul , master of none both 4k, not hdr/dolby
marvel stuff (daredevil, jessica jones, luke cage, iron fist....) hdr
sounds hdr/dolby problem

check using netflix app on tv, , seeing how looks.

i've got lg oled , had enable 4:2:2 on port port basis, setting kinda buried, might want check that.

need new-ish quality hdmi cable hdr.
