Should I upgrade from an Apple TV (3rd generation)?

i need advice. set upgrade apple tv (3rd generation) apple tv 4k once amazon prime released because assumed prime video app not available 3rd generation apple tv. prime video released found 1 of last 64 gb apple tv 4ks in area , got (i know don't need 64 gb $20 more , wanted future proof device). same day prime video app appeared on 3rd generation apple tv , i'm not sure if should keep apple tv 4k or return , save myself money. don't have 4k television , use tv animated kids shows , movies. watch adult tv shows anymore , when watch them on computer headphones on not disturb children's sleep. want know if others think new features of tv os worth upgrade in position. in advance.

 

functionally, atv3 sounds meets needs. but, atv3 no longer sold, updates end in few years (3-5). if ok if offers now, keep , wait on upgrading, no doubt atv next add nice features.

there more apps available atv4 , 4k, many more. since have it, use it, search app store , see if there gotta-haves, determining factor. if don't find things can't live without, return within 30 days.

quick rundown of +/- models are:

atv3:
+ optical audio, 1080p
- limited apps, 100mbps ethernet, 1080p (not 4k), limited lifetime (3-5 years new apps, 10+ years useful life).

atv4:
+ app store (1000s of apps), 1080p
- no optical audio, 100 mbps ethernet, 1080p (not 4k).

atv4k (same atv4 except follows):
+ 4k video, 1gbps ethernet
- no optical audio
