2007 imac need help keeping it going.

i plan on buying newer model have other priorities right now.

need keep 1 going long can.

running el cap 6gb ram , 2.0ghz core2duo.

evening hung/crashed.

music still playing , mouse moving screen unable click on anything.
rear case warm has been warm.

installed magicanpaster app , says cpu 129 degrees , hdd 53 degrees.

seems hight cpu.
no motherboard temp readings in app.

have x7900 cpu upgrade it.
44w compared 35w 2.0ghz cpu in it.
cooling system capable of 45w max within limits.

realize ssd upgrade moment cannot afford it.

have spare 64gb ssd , adaptor put 2.5" drive in optical bay.
if move home folder optical bay drive enough keep going bit until can 2009/2010 model or newer.

know lots ask impossible , know old machine literally have no money right now.

macs fan control gives these readings....

screen shot 2017-12-08 @ 20.16.03.png
seem more realistic 129 degrees

it seems, , i'd guess, processor thermal paste has dried up. else wanted seems ok, , gonna beneficial, might not need more, change aka renew cpu thermal paste.

if that, might want renew gpu thermal paste @ same time. tend disrupt time goes by.

ifixit source lot of different repairing procedures, in opinion.

luck!

oops, attached picture of temps, not sure anymore. cpu shows 47 °c. that's not much. cpu @ 129 °c catastrophe though.
