Picked up a '16 rMB, not sure about it!

so adorama had 2016 m5 512g/8g rmb $975 (no tax yay). picked up, received , still sealed. not sure whether keep or return macbook pro.

how performance of m5 compare '17 m3?

have feeling resale value of mbp better rmb , right?

usage chromebook-ish. dont video editing or gaming or intensive.

 

your usage case utterly mundane; computer built in past 5 years can handle usage described, including 4 year old 11" macbook air (mid 2013) typing reply on.

cpu speed doesn't matter want device.

personally, don't worry resale values of computers. want them whatever tasks need accomplish.

if system might worth $50-100 more later in terms of resale value, if doesn't job or cumbersome/heavy/whatever, overall ownership experience less optimal , few resale dollars when 1 rids of computer aren't going worth it. computers aren't investments, expenses. better find, own , use right tool job rather spend same time ill-suited tool.

if want "future proof" purchase, load on ram , storage capacity.
