Flashing Folder with Question Mark

over last week have been learning how set firmware password, turn on full-disk encryption , create ccc clone.

learned how boot clone using option boot.

last couple of times did apple > shut down screen went dark, still see mouse pointer , move it. if dimmed screen didn't shut down.

when booted - without clone plugged in - see flashing folder question mark.

on brand new retina running sierra.

if ssd bad or os corrupt going furious!

if reboot holding down "option" key - again nothing plugged in - startup disk. if click on that, log in screen , in mac.

looked in system preferences , internal drive listed startup disk.

happened brand new mac? :(

reset nvram:
reboot, holding option-command-p-r
should hear boot chime, continue hold same 4 keys hear boot chime 2 more times, release keys allow normal boot. (if new mac not have boot chime, hold 4 keys on restart 30 seconds, release keys.)
might see flashing folder briefly, nvram reset de-selects selected startup disk.
when booted up, set boot drive in startup disk pref pane (you have unlock pane :) )

if system not allow boot without going through option boot screen, try selecting startup disk again.
if still can't boot without going through option-boot screen - has has "un-blessed" boot drive. think there bless command in terminal. might results looking through man bless command.
- reinstall macos system. time try out bootable flash drive macos installer

should point out have habit of erasing boot drive, first step in setup of brand-new mac, , reinstalling macos, on chance there glitch in factory-installed setup. not has same weird ideas have, , respect :d want sure drive working @ point.
