Seagate Backup Plus Hub (app?)

i picked couple seagate 8tb backup plus hubs mac @ compelling price during holiday sale, needed new tm drive high sierra mac pro , 1 new macbook pro. i'm setting , initial impression upon unboxing positive. small, light form factor , 2 usb 3 ports on front increase number of ports when connecting rather subtracting one. did weird behavior after connecting drive , pluging in ms mouse. have been bad connection. since issues usb 2 devices known problem have read about, not concerned this. drive seems pretty snappy , quiet.

have experience seagate dashboard, app device? if so, shared experience appreciated. software included hardware can worse useless (although not biggie seagate). installed evaluate , access features. i'm going stick time machine seagate dashboard allow other functions power management, cloud uploads (to seagate servers) , other things, redundant respect other apps have. if there red flags come attention i'll uninstall rather wait problems.

 

did seagate drives come own "factory-installed" apps?

well-intended these may be, presence of kind of driver/formatting software/apps on drives may cause problems normal operations (in opinion).

i'd remove of (archive somewhere if wish). there may seagate app intended purpose.

then... i'd re-initialize (erase) drives hfs+ journaling enabled, turning them "blank slates".

then... i'd use them mac.

again, opinion only.
