in summer banned myself buying new apple products 2 years. has not worked out well.

month ago, despite swearing wouldn’t buy iphone x, impetuously bought iphone x. thrilled.

odd things happened. first, kept seeing adverts samsung s8. wow. looks incredible. in way iphone x doesn’t. started falling out of love it.

took apple silicone cover off, had got grubby, , decided go naked. i’d bought space grey x because that’s had in stock. it’s not different jet black 7 i’d had until bought x. , i’m on now.

friend of mine put iphone 6s on table. looked slim , elegant.

then, last night, had x propped on cushion while fiddling apple watch. every time wanted use it, had enter passcode because faceid needs face right in front of screen, not @ side or angle.

tried taking photos , screen kept freezing. thought os error until realised finger brushing bottom of screen, half-activating app switcher, freezes current app.

, started thinking how heavy x is, , how thick is. , how don’t think curved edge screen great. , how bezels have plus points. , how faceid great except when it’s not. , how spent £999 on phone.

started thinking iphone 8. gold one. looks great. it’s light. it’s slim. has pretty same internals. , it’s on special offer @ argos: regular size 64gb £649. that’s less two-thirds price.

, use iphone for? increasingly use apple watch, or have lovely ipad pro if want browse on bigger screen. iphone calls, texts, messaging, apple watch, music, podcasts, , quick looking of things in safari, or banking apps. no big screen required. no snazzy camera needed. (why take these photos anyway?)

, x’s deathknell sounded. it’s going back. , iphone 8 on way.

 

i think find device them. takes time. in case i’ve tried note 8 , kept iphone 7 plus. note didn’t work me. i’ve ordered plus , comes tomorrow. stick x there isn’t anywhere else me go. getting 8 plus step backwards , keeping 7 plus either further step backwards. new portrait lighting , appreciate camer improvements @ least.
