Replaced FusionDrive with SSD in 2014 riMac...

so, have had issues fd in imac15,1 pretty since got it. loads of trouble bootcamp, fd become "unfused" multiple times, , problems performance.
2 weeks ago, in windows environment, did update there, , went south. fd apparently failing.
not install os reliably in either environment, getting i/o error, , problems drive, decided replace it. hesitant retina screen glued/taped on, , looked relatively major surgery, ended switching out 3tb fd 2tb ssd.
major difference, , happy switch, but...

apparently when drive switched out, it's hd portion of fd only, not 128gb ssd portion. so, terminal reports in diskutil list 2tb ssd disk1 (further partitioned 1tb in windows/1tb mac), , disk0 (i think) 128gb ssd.

when hold "option" during startup, option of windows partition, "macdisk" 1tb mac partition, first option "macintosh disc" slow boot, , fails "cross out" symbol. wondering if 128gb ssd, without install of macos on it.

do? cannot see 128gb ssd in disk utility, nor sure should try format if could. figure out in terminal, should bother? in fact seeing ssd portion of original fd? soldered main board, it's non-replaceable, or usable in usual sense?

don't want screw installs have now. if try use bootcamp control panel in windows environment "restart osx" chooses "macintosh disc" option, results in "crossed out" symbol, , need hard reboot, , hold option, etc.

wondering should here, or if missed along way. ssd portion of fd never mentioned in online videos of drive replacement, , sure didn't see ssd on drive pulled out. labeled "3tb" , makes no reference fusion @ all, assume ssd located somewhere else, , remains in computer.

, advice!

...so poked around bit more, , seems indeed leftover ssd. think had leftover macos install, spanned between ssd, , hd (as per fusiondrive) causing "macintosh disk" show up. however, not being total install on ssd portion, fail.
so, have formatted it, , have addition 128gb ssd accessible now.

pretty cool-does replace little ssd? reason that?
thinking install highsierra , utilities on it, , use recovery drive if ever needed.
