Wife's MBA not living up to the "it just works" at the moment!

hello all,

appreciate help. have trawled apple support forums, , done suggested, no avail.

symptoms:

both safari , chrome, , app store affected.
firefox working flawlessly, has me sorts of confused.

when trying go website in safari or chrome, pages stay white/blank. underlying data 'there', evidenced screen grab of wiki homepage, nothing fixes (the grey pop-up on cursor resting, , pointing underlying link).

similarly, mas stays blank on pages. told there 2 updates, irrespective of tab select, mas not load on contents pages, , remain blank.

have cleaned out cache folders safari, chrome , app store.
wiped plist files.
played around date settings.
p'ramm'ed.
tried guest account, , safe mode.
rebooted , restarted
killed appstore related processes in activity monitor.

per suggestions in various articles, without change.

work forces run outdated flash , silverlight access work websites. firefox may not updated, result. flash etc. involved?
running el capitan macos 10.11.6.

hoping can think of try - never had mac couldn't solved bit of digging.

also try this, go

close safari

navigate to:

home/library/prefernces , rename "com.apple.safari.plist" "com.apple.safari.plist.old"

re-start safari
