iPhone x - poor pictures in low light

hi, wanted opinion , on taking better low light photos on iphone x.
eyes, photos taken in regular photo mode in low light have been waaaaaaaay processed camera, noise reduction has been cranked high creates smearing, water-colour painting effect, particularly in skin tones (see below)

took apple store, , lady there didn't seem think technical fault , suggested increase exposure before taking low light photos. though overall camera better iphone 6 before, expected x able handle low light photography better this.

guys think, expecting newest iphone able take sharper photos? if normal this, there settings can change minimise effect or different camera apps you'd recommend?

iphone x f/1.8 1/4 4mm iso320 (regular photo mode, no portrait lighting effects, zoomed in approx 75%)

if you’re pixel peeping, pictures taken mobile phone camera going soft. in low light conditions.

try app called pureshot. allows shoot in raw format, requires edit photos bring them life. gives full control of camera.

try shooting tripod , using headphones remote, hitting volume button take photo. mobile phone holder tripod few bucks!
