Home Network Recommendations.. Mesh, AP or other..?

so i've been struggling come suitable network environment throughout house. not consider large house think may complex walls , wiring have running throughout (and kitchen pretty in middle i'm sure theres interference there).

did renovation year ago , ran cat7 cable main media closet (where primary modem/router come in) basement , bedroom closet upstairs on opposite end of house. had google wifi setup both satellites wired base unit (via netgear gigabit switch , in part of house had google onhub set satellite wasn't hard wired.) overall worked well.

few weeks ago upgraded internet connection fios gigabit - mac, hardwired through same switch gets utterly unnecessary 900+mbps connection know i'm getting bandwidth i'm paying for. found out google wifis wouldn't support 1gb connection switched them out linksys velop setup. again, 1 primary unit connected modem, 2 more connected via ethernet , 3rd satellite wireless. i'm finding devices end bypassing satellite in favor of wired ones though further away i'm not sure useful. satellites little flaky, i'll go app , it'll show me satellite offline, i'll walk through steps reconnect , show up, thats primary reason i'm thinking of switching out. looked @ orbi system highly rated few times saw works best 2 device setup, i'm pretty sure im going need 3rd basement - underground , doesn't not signal anywhere put router above ground.

if run speed test through velop app i'm getting 500-600mbs, if run through speedtest.net speeds closes 250-300mbs - i'm guessing thats more accurate.

started maybe going few access points , came across ubiquiti aps - may overkill, , technology may little above head. i'm sure can figure out if need set up, dont know i'm gaining going route opposed velop system have. 1 of reviews on ubiquiti compared 5 year old apple airport extreme , said airport had more pure speed ubiquitis.

have 1 of airport extremes sitting in drawer unused (that used before google wifi system) - i'm wondering if ordered 2 more of , set them access points in basement , upstairs closet (the primary being in media cabinet) work good, if not better.

1 of things being able see list of connected devices phone - google , linksys both offer this, dont know if ubiquiti or apple does. google went step further , showed actual bandwidth being used device, linksys doesn't.

so, suggestions?? should keep linksys velop setup or go better?

airport utility seems show wifi clients. wifi devices, can see connection strength , speed. when want know wired clients on network, use app called wifi scanner.

ap extreme (current version) supports ac 1300mbps, , 1gbps wan\lan ports. boasts "beam forming" claims focus signal on client ensure best possible connection speed.

key fast wifi connections ensuring connect 5ghz. setup time capsule , other ap devices use different ssid 5ghz , forget 2.4 ghz network on devices can ac , in 5ghz range (shorter 2.4ghz). if use single ssid on dual band routers, never know whet speed connected at, nor have control on it.

but, tasks, 2.4ghz fine. main times want max bandwidth when downloading large files\updates , verifying on 5ghz ac before doing worth effort. websites load same speed on 2.4 5ghz because content typically not large.

problem satellite aps split radio between client , uplink connections, cutting throughput in half. best avoiding unless using mesh aps claim use dedicated radios each task.
