date-related bug in ios 11.1.2 appears causing iphones , ipads continually crash or respring when time-based local notifications received after 12:15 a.m. on december 2, according reports on twitter , reddit.

on reddit, users have had success fixing issue disabling notifications , turning off background app refresh, while apple's support staff appears recommending manual date change time before problem occurred temporarily solution. reinstalling apps , restarting not fix issue. problem looks it's limited devices running ios 11.1.2 -- devices on current ios 11.2 beta aren't affected.

apple stores in australia, late afternoon on december 2, reportedly being inundated support requests customers experiencing issue.

apple undoubtedly fix problem through ios update, people wake on december 2 in united states , other countries throughout world, there's quite lot of confusion when devices begin inexplicably respringing on , on again.

if you're experiencing continual crashing, first thing try disabling notifications apps send regular reminders. can, however, difficult tell apps responsible, secondary solution set date on iphone before december 2 await fix apple.

if aren't experiencing crashes, there's no need turn off notifications or adjust date on device.
