iPhone 8(+) Apple hasn't earned my upgrade: Returned iPhone 8+ to stay with my 6s... anyone else do the same?

well... today made tough decision return 8+ , stick 6s

appreciated of improvements 8+ had such as:

• bigger screen
• brighter screen
• longer battery
• better camera
• stereo speakers
• faster processor

... in end couldn't justify spending $900 on new phone when 6s still gets job done , i'm content it. apples throttling scandal didn't inspire confidence in long-term performance of device plus there few other annoyances cover below.

on, of main reasons leaning towards keeping 8+ fact last great phone has 1] touchid 2] ips screen, , 3] notch-free design. 8+ had ios 11.1.2 didn't have apples throttling "feature" (unlike 6s has 10.3.3 , throttled). next years iphones, according ming-chi kuo, have amoleds / no touchid / notches *bleh*

kept switching , forth between 2 , seeing if 8+ big enough difference justify spending amount of $ on instead of sticking phone have that's paid off , still content with.

i'm minimalist nature , tend on analyze buying decision might possibly create unnecessary waste / excess. it's funny because if family member lost phone , needed 6s have made decision lot easier. have given them 6s free , have kept 8+. no 1 knew needed free 6s though, felt waste having phone sitting around house doing nothing.

in addition whole $ wasting aspect + not creating unnecessary technology clutter around house... apples recent actions throttling scandal left bit of bad taste in mouth. i've been pro-apple consumer ever since iphone 3gs days. of technology have @ home apple technology well: macbook air, appletv, apple watch, , iphone 6s because main feeling had apple 1 feeling in particular: trust. feeling has taken hit (on software side of things, hardware support still top notch) , makes me question if want support company willing act that.

@ least 1 positive came whole "throttlegate" situation in form of battery replacements being temporarily cut down in price $29 through 2018. according coconutbattery 6s hovers between 92-95% , has 278 charge cycles after 16 months. geekbench app shows me no slowdown atm, think i'll wait until end of 2018 battery replacement... ride new battery many years can. if battery degrades point throttling severe i'll research on smartphone landscape @ time , switch on whatever phone (android or iphone) fulfills requirements.

p.s. 1 of annoying parts of 8+ how amateurish apples software keyboard is. mean it's tiny , right in middle of damn screen! @ least on ipad can split keyboard left , right corners... can't plus stupid reason. in addition not being able split keyboard, in ios 10 @ least had other useful keys (such undo, left , right arrows, etc) on left , right side of screen space wasn't wasted. in ios 11 though apple removed useful keys for... drum roll... nothing! it's blank space on left , right of keyboard no reason tried using third party keyboard app split keyboard option trade offs, namely terrible auto-correct , having grant them access view every single thing type, made 3rd party options not worth @ me.

summarize: had enjoyable experience 8+ not enough enough justify $900 price tag when 6s still gets job done. both phones sizes have advantages. while i'll miss advantages of plus, i'll enjoy 6s pocketability, being able reach of screen without having stretch thumb or use reachability, , of course huge $ savings / not rewarding apples bad behavior.

apple gets slap upside head these class-action lawsuits , learns knock off orwellian crap , instead start provide users more transparency / software control options in settings app.

else out there decide return 8/8+/x , stick had? reasons doing so?

 

i can never switch 6 after getting used true tone on 8 plus...the quality , difference in screen stark!
