iPhone X Contact photos keep changing/shifting

hi all

i’ve been setting pictures contacts (which synced via icloud). pick photo, use circular selection highlight frame person , select done.

however, if go later contact i’ve set picture for, contact photo not selection made. it’s same photo, circular highlight selection has moved randomly part of photo.

know happening , how stop it?

that has happened way before iphone x, btw. it’s happened me long time , thought one. guess that’s way is, ocd when happens pick picture fit. lol
