calendar 'cal' is not displaying correctly

hello

have upgraded both mac book pro , mac book air yosemite high sierra. , noticed when open terminal , type in 'cal' command see calendar. highlighted date not displaying properly. instead looks surrounded these brackets $<2> 9$<2>. know how fix this?

$ cal
