I think my logic board is faulty - power issues


hi.

have managed purchase 2008 macbook pro £20, because has minor problems. feel failed logic board right?

firstly there no working wifi, not seen anywhere, not in recovery.

secondly , annoyingly. machine powers , runs perfect on mains , battery unless leave unplugged overnight.

starts , runs on mains or battery every time , run on battery hours if leave overnight without charger plugged in, not turn on again unless remove ram , put in.

when happens battery shows charge on side button , when turn machine on. run fine on battery , mains.

that's why cost £20! ;)

here's odd one! 1 of our 2015 macbook air notebooks in office crashed , became unbootable after user clicked high sierra upgrade sierra on it. tried sorts of things working again, including both internet recovery , regular recovery. each time, partially install high sierra , stop error saying, "macos not installed on computer", followed specific error code mentioned in message subject line. have identically configured air (8gb ram, 512gb ssd, core i7) upgraded sierra high sierra without problems @ all, should work! thing able problem machine installing sierra usb thumb drive. did that, of user's data accessible again (nothing lost, thankfully!) , working normally. tried running high sierra upgrade again fresh app store download, hoping original issue stupid user powering computer off in middle of upgrade process. nope! exact same error , resulting unbootable machine. computer passes apple hardware tests flying colors , seems fine
