Is Apple Becoming Like Comcast?


i've used macs on twenty years , have found customer support good, superb. of late, however, fear things may changing worse.

hear's basis stating this:

1. hardware reliability.
the macs purchased twenty ten years ago still work. none of them required trip repair shop. still use 2 of them sometimes, , they're fine. none of 7 macs we've purchased in past 8 years have made more 3 years without needing major repair. 3 of them failed after expiration of additional applecare warranty. 2 failed before applecare warranty's expiration. others failed within applecare warranty.​

2. repair service.
macbook air, september of 2016. our macbook air failed catastrophically. applestore clerk confirmed failure on logic board , require depot level work. said screen had failed well. confirmed both problems due defects , not due abuse. applecare warranty had expired week before. tough. have pay $500 fixed. okay.

ipad, october of 2017. our ipad developed small crack in screen. (truly) happened spontaneously. tried ignore it. within week, spread across entire screen. when took apple store, acknowledged within warranty wanted additional $49 fix screen, because said had, "spidering."

iphone, december of 2017. this week, iphone 7 developed similar single crack in screen. given happened ipad, took in immediately, before spidering spread 1 crack, did ipad. apple store personnel agreed within warranty , no additional charge necessary.
not wait them repair it, said take 4 hours. put in contact apple's phone support while still in store. phone support person said there additional charge of $99 switch fixed phone ours, contradicted store personnel had said.
apple phone support , apple store personnel got argument charge right there in front of us, not resolved until phone support put senior person on phone. senior person was, well, cold , officious. said that, well, okay, exchange free of charge time, have bill our credit card $600 until saw returning old phone. said should receive notice of shipment shortly, have sign it.
$600 charge showed on our credit card immediately, before left store. on twenty-four hours , still have not received notification replacement phone has shipped.
although macbook air on us, , fair, mention it, because in 2012, macbook pro failed in similar fashion 1 month after applecare warranty had expired. expected have pay repair, apple volunteered fix free, given (expensive) warranty had expired , customer. when apple did that, put wind in sails , increased loyalty apple.

yes, apple has far sink before reaches comcast's fathomless depths, it's not buoyant @ moment, seems.
 

apples customer service isn't used neither user base.
