Looking for advice on what to buy to have a dual monitor setup for macbook pro.


wife has 15" macbook pro retina that's few years old. want either dual monitor set or large wide screen monitor split screen. have no idea need done , looking advice on need get. not familiar macbook pro's ability dual monitors or split screen 1 monitor. ideally have 1 monitor showing email time , other 1 being main working monitor. advice appreciated!
 

i've been doing searching today on similar question , confused options well, i'm bumping thread. in case, have both 2013 retina mbp 13" , 2016 retina mbp 15" (usb-c). , i'm curious if either/both of these laptops can drive dual external displays while still utilizing built-in display.

com.apple.DiskManagement.disenter error -119930878

here's odd one! 1 of our 2015 macbook air notebooks in office crashed , became unbootable after user clicked high sierra upgrade sierra on it. tried sorts of things working again, including both internet recovery , regular recovery. each time, partially install high sierra , stop error saying, "macos not installed on computer", followed specific error code mentioned in message subject line. have identically configured air (8gb ram, 512gb ssd, core i7) upgraded sierra high sierra without problems @ all, should work! thing able problem machine installing sierra usb thumb drive. did that, of user's data accessible again (nothing lost, thankfully!) , working normally. tried running high sierra upgrade again fresh app store download, hoping original issue stupid user powering computer off in middle of upgrade process. nope! exact same error , resulting unbootable machine. computer passes apple hardware tests flying colors , seems fine
