MacBook Pro (2017) beeps twice, mechanical and loud, during regular use

this afternoon listening music on spotify (playing directly built in speakers client) when computer made loud mechanical beeping noise twice consecutively scared daylights out of me. isn't sound want hear coming modern macintosh. according roommate, did once more (two consecutive beeps) while out of room. there have been no more unusual sounds since first incident.
concerned failing, ran diagnostics after rebooting. passed diagnostic tests leaving me no answers why beeping occurred.
should concerned wrong macbook? first time has happened. haven't heard sounds macintosh since @ least seven. far know not local emergency alert sound.
(also - did replay song twice make sure beeping wasn't part of song hearing, song played usual.)

here's odd one! 1 of our 2015 macbook air notebooks in office crashed , became unbootable after user clicked high sierra upgrade sierra on it. tried sorts of things working again, including both internet recovery , regular recovery. each time, partially install high sierra , stop error saying, "macos not installed on computer", followed specific error code mentioned in message subject line. have identically configured air (8gb ram, 512gb ssd, core i7) upgraded sierra high sierra without problems @ all, should work! thing able problem machine installing sierra usb thumb drive. did that, of user's data accessible again (nothing lost, thankfully!) , working normally. tried running high sierra upgrade again fresh app store download, hoping original issue stupid user powering computer off in middle of upgrade process. nope! exact same error , resulting unbootable machine. computer passes apple hardware tests flying colors , seems fin...
