Is the 27'' iMac too big for my desk?

i've been thinking of getting imac longest time now. i'm getting degree in advertisement , requires lot of graphic design. i've spent many long nights on 13'' mbp zooming in on photoshop , illustrator , scrolling crazy trying find clips in premiere pro. think eyes deserve rest, , can't begin imagine amazing things on 27'' baby. thing is...i think might not fit current desk.

situation bit complicated. don't have actual desk, rather long, built-in pair of shelves. 1 @ bottom has 128cms of utilizable desk space (where keep imac plus stationery, able fit mbp every once in while). top shelf waste of space. keep books , cutesy stuff other that, unusable. distance between "desk" shelf , top shelf 51 cm. read online total height of imac 52,3cms, i'd cutting pretty close. top shelf isn't same width lower one, , there's 39,4 cms of "free" air space. i'm thinking maybe if computer sits little more towards edge, it'll have enough room?

hope explanation makes sense, , understand there's no exact way of knowing without trying computer itself, sadly there no apple stores live , authorized store doesn't allow exchanges without valid motive.

also, heavy @ all? said, it's awful built-in shelf , lacks proper support other screws. getting real desk not of option since have no space work with.

(the salesperson somehow convinced me graphic design 27'' way go. 21'' bad need for?)

 

dont limit because have lack of space. situation change , may regret not having larger imac. have make room this. comes down want. want lose 6 inches save space in current situation or willing make adjustments have larger imac. not sure how heavy either of them are, bet same weight. let me know decide on. cheers.
