Not firmware and not encrypted, whats next?

hello all, purchased macbook air 2017 version , after couple months, when try use recovery mode "command + r" keys during startup, lock screen requesting password. looks same screen firmware password request, however, never set firmware password. in addition this, can access os , log in during normal start up. seems rule firmware password. also, have checked security & privacy > firevault , confirmed not enabled.

what's next?

thanks!

if simple blank password box, padlock, that's firmware (efi) password.
not appear when boot normal boot drive, when try boot different bootable drive or partition, such recovery system.
tip try nvram reset. if see password box when attempting reset, that's clue have firmware password set.

allow else your mbair (and person have knowledge of how set efi password!)?

here's apple support article tells how turn password off --- or how proceed if don't know password is, , clear (and can prove sales receipt own mbair)
(it shows clear picture of password box, can compare see! )
