Should I update my MacBook Air (early 2014) from OS X Yosemite


actually mac running yosemite

macbook air (13 inches, 2014)
intel core i5 1.4 ghz
4 gb 1600 mhz ddr3
intel hd graphics 5000 1536 mb

don't know if should update of these, did not try operating system.


version 10.11: el captain
version 10.12: sierra
version 10.13: high sierra


have iphone in ios 11 , giving problems synchronization, safari doesn't synchronize tabs icloud, used lot before. has recommended me?
 

update sierra, high sierra little buggy right now, sierra solid , plays nice ios 11

here's odd one! 1 of our 2015 macbook air notebooks in office crashed , became unbootable after user clicked high sierra upgrade sierra on it. tried sorts of things working again, including both internet recovery , regular recovery. each time, partially install high sierra , stop error saying, "macos not installed on computer", followed specific error code mentioned in message subject line. have identically configured air (8gb ram, 512gb ssd, core i7) upgraded sierra high sierra without problems @ all, should work! thing able problem machine installing sierra usb thumb drive. did that, of user's data accessible again (nothing lost, thankfully!) , working normally. tried running high sierra upgrade again fresh app store download, hoping original issue stupid user powering computer off in middle of upgrade process. nope! exact same error , resulting unbootable machine. computer passes apple hardware tests flying colors , seems fine
