Boot time slow with external APFS HD connected.


i not recommend covert external drives apfs! did , boot time 2017 imac went 18 seconds 1 minute , 45 seconds when apfs converted external hard drives hooked up. , have nothing on them other data, no os. not cool! don't understand why there absolutely no info out there this. have idea about? bear in mind did convert external hds apfs. not booting them @ all. contain files.
 

i assume these ssd drives?
reason ask, external ssd’s quite expensive.

com.apple.DiskManagement.disenter error -119930878

here's odd one! 1 of our 2015 macbook air notebooks in office crashed , became unbootable after user clicked high sierra upgrade sierra on it. tried sorts of things working again, including both internet recovery , regular recovery. each time, partially install high sierra , stop error saying, "macos not installed on computer", followed specific error code mentioned in message subject line. have identically configured air (8gb ram, 512gb ssd, core i7) upgraded sierra high sierra without problems @ all, should work! thing able problem machine installing sierra usb thumb drive. did that, of user's data accessible again (nothing lost, thankfully!) , working normally. tried running high sierra upgrade again fresh app store download, hoping original issue stupid user powering computer off in middle of upgrade process. nope! exact same error , resulting unbootable machine. computer passes apple hardware tests flying colors , seems fine
