Just format to APFS encrypted? Instead of enabling FV later on?


hi,

want clean install high sierra. last time did it, formatted apfs , enabled fv after os installation. remaning time encryption 14 hours vs 20 minutes on sierra!

time, if format apfs encrypted during clean install, fv enabled start, , won't have wait 14 hours complete?

read on apple forums.

what's difference between enabling fv after os installation has completed vs. formatting directly apfs encrypted? option secure?

 

it enabled, won't work properly. want format apfs unencrypted enable fv after install.

when fv enabled changes boot process mac boots recovery drive , presents login screen. once login, drive unlocked , boot process handed off main drive.

if format encrypted first, fv setup steps not occur , login process not work properly.

OWC Envoy Pro SSD Enclosure - Alternatives?
