Possible Upgrade to macOS High Sierra


i using older macbook pro (13 inch 2011) os x ei capitan ver 10.11.6 older system using able handle upgrade current macos high sierra? ei capitan works pretty good, have been getting alot of spinning balls since upgrading while it. general internet use , watching videos etc works fine. info.

macbook pro (13-inch, 2011)
processor 2.3 ghz intel core i5
memory 4 gb 1333 mhz ddr3
 

i wish go older os...this high sierra has me...the following problems: apple mail no longer had preferences....in box not viewable....finder can not find of looking ....i see no advantage new os...i call disaster.

here's odd one! 1 of our 2015 macbook air notebooks in office crashed , became unbootable after user clicked high sierra upgrade sierra on it. tried sorts of things working again, including both internet recovery , regular recovery. each time, partially install high sierra , stop error saying, "macos not installed on computer", followed specific error code mentioned in message subject line. have identically configured air (8gb ram, 512gb ssd, core i7) upgraded sierra high sierra without problems @ all, should work! thing able problem machine installing sierra usb thumb drive. did that, of user's data accessible again (nothing lost, thankfully!) , working normally. tried running high sierra upgrade again fresh app store download, hoping original issue stupid user powering computer off in middle of upgrade process. nope! exact same error , resulting unbootable machine. computer passes apple hardware tests flying colors , seems fine
