Best version for 2012 MacBook Pro


hey guys, have question crossed mind. have 2012 macbook pro sold 4 or 5 years. upgraded 128gb solid state drive , installed 8gb of ram. running latest version of macos, wondering if older version run smoother. haven't noticed difference in performance until upgraded high sierra, , it's not big of difference.

what's opinion?
 

considering ssd upgrade doesn't matter. hdd slowest component in machine.

if wish have latest features, run latest os. otherwise, pick whichever felt worked best you.

com.apple.DiskManagement.disenter error -119930878

here's odd one! 1 of our 2015 macbook air notebooks in office crashed , became unbootable after user clicked high sierra upgrade sierra on it. tried sorts of things working again, including both internet recovery , regular recovery. each time, partially install high sierra , stop error saying, "macos not installed on computer", followed specific error code mentioned in message subject line. have identically configured air (8gb ram, 512gb ssd, core i7) upgraded sierra high sierra without problems @ all, should work! thing able problem machine installing sierra usb thumb drive. did that, of user's data accessible again (nothing lost, thankfully!) , working normally. tried running high sierra upgrade again fresh app store download, hoping original issue stupid user powering computer off in middle of upgrade process. nope! exact same error , resulting unbootable machine. computer passes apple hardware tests flying colors , seems fine
