2010 iMac backup


my mom's got 2010 imac (11,2) , it's gotten slow , cluttered. it's running latest os (10.13.2), , i've upgraded 16gb ram (maxed).

want things , reinstall high sierra. doesn't have time capsule, or use icloud @ all. have high capacity sd cards though. work ok itunes/photos library after wiping/reinstalling high sierra?
 

first off backup before wiping , reinstalling. don't know if time machine use sd card there's drag , drop copy.

com.apple.DiskManagement.disenter error -119930878

here's odd one! 1 of our 2015 macbook air notebooks in office crashed , became unbootable after user clicked high sierra upgrade sierra on it. tried sorts of things working again, including both internet recovery , regular recovery. each time, partially install high sierra , stop error saying, "macos not installed on computer", followed specific error code mentioned in message subject line. have identically configured air (8gb ram, 512gb ssd, core i7) upgraded sierra high sierra without problems @ all, should work! thing able problem machine installing sierra usb thumb drive. did that, of user's data accessible again (nothing lost, thankfully!) , working normally. tried running high sierra upgrade again fresh app store download, hoping original issue stupid user powering computer off in middle of upgrade process. nope! exact same error , resulting unbootable machine. computer passes apple hardware tests flying colors , seems fine
