Home Stumbled across a strange Alexa skill.

we’ve been thinking of getting mother in-law echo show (echo screen) xmas.

primary use in kitchen, reading recipes. decided check own alexa app see recipe skills out there.

came across one, called easy recipes...

https://skills-store.amazon.com/deeplink/dp/b074vbp5t2?devicetype=app&share&refsuffix=ss_copy

developer’s name in chinese. amazon says app contains “dynamic content” updated in real time developer. whatever means. message accompanied button says “i understand.”

google translates developer’s name “beijing jinshan security software co., ltd.”. google says company founded in ‘70s, made computers time , makes software, including anti virus software under name kingsoft.

(not so) recent revelations kaspersky, 1 has wonder, why chinese anti virus software company writing alexa skill claims search recipes?

there tons of weird, bad, , questionable looking chinese apps on app store, don’t hear spyware or malware on ios devices, assume, because apple vetting these apps. i’ve viewed them quick way make cheap buck many of them knockoffs or clones of existing apps , ideas.

amazon vetting skills? what’s dynamic content disclaimer? beijing jinshan security software co., ltd. have gain financially getting me use alexa skill search recipes?

how know app isn’t letting wifi network, recording voice day, etc?

sounds paranoid, know. odd me.
