Startup Sound (again!)


after update 10.13.2, old mac pro 4,1 (flashed 5,1) has reverted chiming on reboot despite using well-known terminal commands; tried in list below running app auto mute.
still blowing horn! (also tried resetting nvram)
sudo nvram systemaudiovolume=%80
sudo nvram systemaudiovolume=%00
sudo nvram systemaudiovolume=%01
sudo nvram systemaudiovolume=" "

resolved using setting in onyx!
 

why need mute it? serves purpose (at least, when troubleshooting). , how reboot? opposed sleeping mac... honestly, curious.

com.apple.DiskManagement.disenter error -119930878

here's odd one! 1 of our 2015 macbook air notebooks in office crashed , became unbootable after user clicked high sierra upgrade sierra on it. tried sorts of things working again, including both internet recovery , regular recovery. each time, partially install high sierra , stop error saying, "macos not installed on computer", followed specific error code mentioned in message subject line. have identically configured air (8gb ram, 512gb ssd, core i7) upgraded sierra high sierra without problems @ all, should work! thing able problem machine installing sierra usb thumb drive. did that, of user's data accessible again (nothing lost, thankfully!) , working normally. tried running high sierra upgrade again fresh app store download, hoping original issue stupid user powering computer off in middle of upgrade process. nope! exact same error , resulting unbootable machine. computer passes apple hardware tests flying colors , seems fine
