iOS 11.2 Beta 3 Introduces Pop-up to Explain Control Center Wi-Fi/Bluetooth Functionality

ios 11, apple changed way bluetooth , wi-fi toggles in control center work. 2 buttons no longer standard on/off switches, , instead disable bluetooth , wi-fi set period of time.

in new ios 11.2 beta released morning, apple has added new informational pop-ups let users know how these toggles work. new pop-ups explain bluetooth , wi-fi disabled temporarily rather permanently.

prior today's update, control center toggles wi-fi , bluetooth confusing, because there no on-device explanation. apple outlined how toggles work in a support document, if didn't see it, might wonder why wi-fi or bluetooth turning on after being disabled via control center.

these new messages appear first time control center toggles used. subsequent uses show message @ top reads "disconnecting nearby wi-fi networks until tomorrow" or "disconnecting bluetooth devices until tomorrow."

while apple's new pop-ups offer better explanation available, there other situations wi-fi or bluetooth might turned on sooner 1 day. when use wi-fi toggle in control center, wi-fi disabled until 1 of following conditions occurs:

- wi-fi reactivated using control center
- connect wi-fi network using settings > wi-fi
- walk or drive new location
- it's 5:00 a.m. local time
- ios device restarted

when use bluetooth toggle in control center, bluetooth disabled until 1 of following conditions occurs:

- bluetooth reactivated using control center
- connect bluetooth accessory in settings > bluetooth
- it's 5:00 a.m. local time
- ios device restarted

more permanently disable bluetooth , wi-fi on ios device running ios 11, it's necessary go settings app , toggle these features off in wi-fi , bluetooth sections. apple made change control center in ios 11 better overall user experience, iphone , ipad owners might not realize impact turning wi-fi , bluetooth off can have when comes ios features gps directions, continuity, , more.

in addition introducing message let users know how bluetooth , wi-fi work in control center, on iphone x, there's small ui change designed make control center gesture more obvious. whenever you're on lock screen, there's small bar underneath icons on right side of device, letting know there's more see there. bar not displayed on home screen of unlocked iphone x, nor displayed within apps.
