What are my options to backup iMac to MBPro to take with me?


having moved pc mac, getting 27" imac of daily research on, , since i'm new whole system of options, thought i'd ask familiar them suggest.

i'd work on 2017 imac , wondering if there way backup (browser history, files saved desktop, downloaded files, 3d files created in software , saved desktop, stuff that...) 2015 mbpro. should happen imac while i'm gone (fire, theft, whatever) entire year isn't lost hardware.


there way have macbook pro plugged in, or connected other way keep same imac, i'd want know it, bought able have daily desktop work me as possible, if there's minute-by-minute update/copy feature fanstatic.

similar this, regardless of price, , no matter if it's software solution or additional hardware, i'd love know it. thank you!

here's odd one! 1 of our 2015 macbook air notebooks in office crashed , became unbootable after user clicked high sierra upgrade sierra on it. tried sorts of things working again, including both internet recovery , regular recovery. each time, partially install high sierra , stop error saying, "macos not installed on computer", followed specific error code mentioned in message subject line. have identically configured air (8gb ram, 512gb ssd, core i7) upgraded sierra high sierra without problems @ all, should work! thing able problem machine installing sierra usb thumb drive. did that, of user's data accessible again (nothing lost, thankfully!) , working normally. tried running high sierra upgrade again fresh app store download, hoping original issue stupid user powering computer off in middle of upgrade process. nope! exact same error , resulting unbootable machine. computer passes apple hardware tests flying colors , seems fine
