Moving to new MBP (2016): Migration Help

just bought 2016 15" mbp, running high sierra. moving 2009 17" mbp running el capitan (can't update os x). don't want have buy cables migrate old mac new mac. best way , maintain of "legacy" applications (like aperture, ms office, etc). have used superduper make bootable clone of old mbp on usb hd. make time machine backup on drive, if best option. appreciate suggestions on best/easiest way migrate new mbp while maintaining apps might not able re-download.

"i have used superduper make bootable clone of old mbp on usb hd."

have just need superduper cloned backup.

advice on how proceed:
1. when new mbp arrives, take out of box, don't turn on yet.
2. instead, power on old mpb, hook superduper backup, , run sd "one last time" "up-to-date" can be.
3. power down old mbp, take sd backup , connect new mpb.
4. power new mbp first time, , begin setup.
5. @ appropriate moment, setup assistant ask if wish migrate data , old mac or drive.
6. "aim" setup assistant @ sd backup drive.
7. offered several options migrate, such applications, accounts, settings, , data.
8. choose everything. then... let setup assistant thing. may take while.
9. when done, should presented login screen, , desktop appeared on old macbook pro.
10. need "test run" 3rd-party apps sure still work. may require updates. few old apps may not work @ (them's breaks).
11. aperture may need updated last version (if haven't done so).
12. i'm not sure if ms office apps "come through" without having re-register them. give try first.

let know how goes.
