What to do before I setup my new NAS


okay, got synology 418play.

before tear thing , set - feels 1 of things once have 1 know bunch of stuff wish you'd known before set up.

save me heart ache , school me.

should before set nas? tips, tricks, methods?

i've got mess of random disks have ton of duplicates. need de-dupe before dump files on nas? can there?

use gemini 2 de-dupe. work same on nas locally?

can set thing up, dump random disks onto , de-dupe nas?

missing?

com.apple.DiskManagement.disenter error -119930878

here's odd one! 1 of our 2015 macbook air notebooks in office crashed , became unbootable after user clicked high sierra upgrade sierra on it. tried sorts of things working again, including both internet recovery , regular recovery. each time, partially install high sierra , stop error saying, "macos not installed on computer", followed specific error code mentioned in message subject line. have identically configured air (8gb ram, 512gb ssd, core i7) upgraded sierra high sierra without problems @ all, should work! thing able problem machine installing sierra usb thumb drive. did that, of user's data accessible again (nothing lost, thankfully!) , working normally. tried running high sierra upgrade again fresh app store download, hoping original issue stupid user powering computer off in middle of upgrade process. nope! exact same error , resulting unbootable machine. computer passes apple hardware tests flying colors , seems fine
