Apple Watch 3 GPS, is it possible to make phone calls over WiFi with iPhone off?

watch , phone connected same wifi network, watch makes calls long iphone on , in range. turn phone off, no calls texting works. verizon phone, wifi calling enabled. there way enable wifi calling on series 3 watch?

have been given conflicting info apple. calls can’t made on wifi unless iphone within range , turned on. others long both have been connected network previously, calls can made phone off. have read possible on apple support forums, haven’t been able it. appreciated.

 

yes work if set , used on supported carrier network. first make sure carrier supports wi-fi calling on supported icloud-connected devices.

if carrier supports wi-fi calling on supported icloud-connected devices can move on proper set needed on iphone can make , receive wi-fi calls on other devices. can use wi-fi calling on these devices, if iphone isn't on same wi-fi network or turned on:

• ipad or ipod touch ios 9 or later
• apple watch watchos 2 or later
• mac (2012 or later model) os x el capitan

make sure you're signed in icloud , facetime same apple id use on iphone. make sure devices have latest software.

add watch:

1. on iphone, go settings > phone , turn on wi-fi calling, turn on calls on other devices.
   
2. tap add wi-fi calling other devices.
3. on watch, use iphone watch app, sign in icloud , facetime same apple id , password use on iphone.
