Is the Air still a good laptop in 2017?

hi all. i'm using air 2010 , has been far reliable laptop i've had several windows laptops die on me since then. it's getting real slow though looking upgrade. i'm looking that's reliable , still usable in 5 years time. using physics studies, , doubt doing else outside netflix, skype, browsing , things that.

considering pro without touch bar since around same price. bit worried keyboard , whether reliable air. guys think?

i think macbook pro more future proof mba, in case, price main issue mba. moderate user, last @ least 6 or 8 years. macbook pro 2009 still works, takes eternity open video files or having multiple tabs opened.
