mid 2014 Macbook pro - Thunderbolt 3 eGPU

i'm looking improve gaming performance on macbook pro mid 2014. i've been looking @ egpu's

know macbook has thunderbolt 2 ports. question apple thunderbolt 3 thunderbolt 2 cable, able use thunderbolt 3 egpu enclosure non top of line gpu (g force 660ti). know that's not top spec graphics card let me play games play @ best graphics settings. dont mind boot camping mac if needed have copy of windows 10, although running high sierra. dont want go down line of having buy dedicated gaming pc or whole new macbook. seems best "bang buck" option can see.

running gigabyte aorus gtx 1070 egpu, worth £550+ paid it. took me little while , running. on down side.... 'meltdown' supplemental update has killed drivers (nvidia), i'm poor hd intel 3000 chip in mac mini. if running windows think choice, worked until update 10.3.2 (17c205).

if go down route, suggest not doing supplemental update until can drivers whatever option go when decide update mbp. me, i'm annoyed myself updated machine after long day (yup work in lol).

there plenty of information out there on web looking mac specific. have @ post macbook pro 2014 , msi gtx970 egpu, there link in there somewhere can started. luck
