MacBook Pro decision help


good morning , been reading weeks , weeks on topic . i’m on fence on macbook pro model. going college masters degree , 2011 macbook pro no go.

i’m not wealthy person purchase 2017 macbook pro ntb 8gb 256gb.

when put under minor load , using imovie , microsoft office , chome browser using 6.15gb of memory out of 8gb.

since expensive machine , i’m hoping use 6 years guys think. have 5 days exchange @ apple. portability can’t 15” screen .

options 1. 2.3ghz macbook pro 256gb 16gb 1699 ntb

option 2. 3.1 macbook pro 256 touch bar 8gb.

advise appreciated . movie use macbook writing school papers , , web surfing . on small occasion since have small drone use imovie edit videos . other , nothing technical .
 

if want, exchange 16gb version.
have seems fine.

i'd avoid chrome browser (never touch myself).

don't leave imovie loaded time.
when need use it...

com.apple.DiskManagement.disenter error -119930878

here's odd one! 1 of our 2015 macbook air notebooks in office crashed , became unbootable after user clicked high sierra upgrade sierra on it. tried sorts of things working again, including both internet recovery , regular recovery. each time, partially install high sierra , stop error saying, "macos not installed on computer", followed specific error code mentioned in message subject line. have identically configured air (8gb ram, 512gb ssd, core i7) upgraded sierra high sierra without problems @ all, should work! thing able problem machine installing sierra usb thumb drive. did that, of user's data accessible again (nothing lost, thankfully!) , working normally. tried running high sierra upgrade again fresh app store download, hoping original issue stupid user powering computer off in middle of upgrade process. nope! exact same error , resulting unbootable machine. computer passes apple hardware tests flying colors , seems fine
