Anyone go from an s8 to an X?
i have 6+ , in dilemma. found couple of responses searching through various threads , hoping answers here.
s8 makes sense price, infinity display, , customization. plus me migrating google services vs. apple.
x make sense since has better camera (from watching youtube videos, correct me if wrong), have retina macbook imessages can answered on here, , of course transition apps easy via backup. plus works , apple have had few problems.
complaints hear between 2 are: s8 features great wore off on time, x boring if have had ios years (for me: i've had 3gs, 4, samsung galaxy 3, 6+).
has tried s8, s8+ try new , either love it, or got fed whatever bothered , went iphone?
camera important me main photo taker steer me towards x, based off youtube videos cameras on both aren't far off each other.
aware bias on forum go towards x, wondering if of have tried s8 (not in store, owned one) , either stuck or went x. note 8 out big, , 8,8+ out have similar build 6+ , want fresh.
funny ask. purchased , returned 3 iphone 10s , exchanged 2 more due screen uniformity issues , banding. last 1 got genius bar replacement best of bunch still pink tint @ edges. not worth $1000. decided give up, sold on swappa few days ago , took couple hundred loss in end due sales tax original purchase. sick of overpriced poor screens, itunes, icloud, lightning, lack of easy file transfer, complex solutions easy problems (app closing), push toward bluetooth music listening yet no support other sbc , aac (only few headphones support aac), go on.
i've tried lg v30 , pixel 2 (non-xl). both have own sets of issues won't into, , not worth cost. swore off samsung since s5 decided buy s8 best buy yesterday, hell. have $150 off instantly verizon if upgrade, not bill credit. got s8 $600, can't go wrong.
perfection on 1st try. screen white , uniform. don't need view @ perfect angle. there color shift, sweet spot larger iphone x tried.
notch abomination, rationalization this. watching videos , pinching zoom takes entire screen on s8 , there's no notch obstructing anything. it's beautiful , symmetrical.
ergonomics- similar iphone 7 , x, s8 great use 1 handed. little narrower thought annoy me doesn't.
on display- shows basics , notifications. notifications remain private on x until authenticate. there's status led changes colors. , yeah, having notifications in general great.
useful screen calibration tool s8. can adjust temperature in addition rgb sliders. blue light filter @ night night shift on iphone, me.
actual living wallpapers, if thing. installed pixel 2 live wallpapers apk (live earth, beach, etc.) , fantastic. not faux live wallpapers on x.
camera far fine use. i'm not taking photos, photos shot of iphone 7 sold tonight (which s8 replacing) turned out pretty good. shot 15 photos sale. on iphone needed email them myself or use itunes transfer. on s8 dragged them folder on pc, done. , deleted them using pc. no convoluted icloud / itunes / sync process. don't base opinion on youtube videos, need try camera see if works you. may well, return period.
placing apps folders quicker too. create folder , can select apps want put inside. on iphones needed manually drag apps whatever folders wanted.
headphone jack, if thing. it. can charge phone , listen headphones @ same time without stupid dongle. android 8 enable phone support aptx hd , ldac shortly. both enabled on pixel 2, think google has rights codecs / baked os. phone uses usb-c rest of world, , there quick charger included in box.
android pay, haven't used yet. everywhere go use apple pay supports android pay or samsung pay i'm not worried it.
it's not peachy on s8. there lag here , there, again ios 11 stuttered @ times. pain go through , disable crap apps , uninstall others. battery life isn't getting on x. i'd comparable iphone 7 on ios 11 - wasn't stellar got me through day. there mid , max power saving feature should help, have not tried either yet.
don't being stuck on android 7.0 , october security patch. don't shady things phone not major deal. still, apple king when comes updates , support.
phone gets warm during apps google newsstand.
face identification isn't secure quick , this...ready it...you go straight home screen without swipe or anything! @ phone , you're home. novel concept!! fingerprint sensor on of phone near touch id. placement of sensor crazy. if you're righty ok, feel lefties annoyed fast it.
sorry long winded post, saw op , thought hey, switched, may share. knows how long keep s8. prior android switches have lasted no longer 4 months. time it's different. there many things hate iphone , it's getting worse, in humble opinion. s8 has been surprise , hits on many features want in phone , i'm happy it. $600 worth try. luck if try s8 or s8+, again, can return if doesn't work out!
