i need new mac , i'm thinking of going desktop. i've had macbook pro years, , hardly ever took out of house. after getting ipad stayed @ home, hooked monitor an external hdd. i'm university student found work best @ home.
imac i'd more power, bigger screen, and, importantly, more ports. have lots of usb peripherals, , using ethernet nice option, too. can afford mbp without touch bar , 1 has 2 ports (ridiculous call 'pro' imo).
looking @ these configurations:
- imac 21.5" 4k 3.4 ghz quad-core i5 - 1tb fusion drive
- imac 21.5" 4k 3.0 ghz quad-core i5, custom 256gb ssd
- macbook pro 13.3" 2.3 ghz dual-core i5 - 256gb ssd, without touch bar
these same price. reason imac custom ssd i'm afraid traditional hdd in fusion drive more prone failure full ssd drive. mean less storage (wouldn't bother me much, have external drives), slower cpu (3.0ghz vs 3.4 ghz) , 'radeon pro 555 2 gb vram' instead of 'radeon pro 560 4 gb vram' (i have no idea means.), computer maybe last longer.
i'm still hesitant desktop because i've never owned one, mbp used desktop anyway. having portable computer nice should need portability 1 day when compare i'm getting money imac vs mbp, latter looks bad deal. measly 2 ports, of can use 1 of time since 1 needed power cable.
question if notice power in imac. use mac office apps, photo editing lightroom , photoshop, mail, web browser, netflix , itunes.
in situation? & sorry wall of text.
