Constant notification requesting Mail password

hello,

lately have been getting constant notification osx requesting me enter email password. happens on different local computer accounts have different (aol) email addresses.



can press close or can press continue , opens system preferences , enter password says unable verify account name or password. regardless of incoming , outgoing emails still working , notification continues occur numerous times day.



when press continue , opens system preferences, if press cancel instead , press on details , enter password accepts it. despite notification still keep reappearing.



incredibly frustrating notifications not go away unless manually close them.

do have 2 step authentication set on account? if yes, you'll need app-specific password enter.
