SOLVED - Can’t get 4K display to be 4K on fully loaded 2017 MBP

i can’t seem figure out. i’m running sierra on 2017 mbp has best video card should allow 4k video. monitor uhd (3840x2160), benq bl2711u.

except videos scaling down if resolution hd.

when go displays under preferences see default resolution display 1920x1080. have option “scale” 3840x2160 ability of monitor don’t want scale it.

if scale can tell it’s not true uhd. it’s scaled up.

there reason why it’s not showing true default resolution being 3840x2160 monitor is?

how connecting it?

happens if hold down option key while trying select custom resolution? true 4k option (i.e. not 1080p scaled)?
