Who is responsible for broken Autodiscover?

hi -

have several clients on rackspace hosted exchange. recently, after updating ios 11, autodiscover no longer working these people. must manually enter server information - sort of defeats purpose of why have them stationed there.

spoke support tech @ appriver: experiencing same behavior.

rackspace pointing finger @ apple; seem think apple discussion boards kind of official word apple, not. it's merely people me speculating , trying figure out.

there 3 current threads on net, month old describe issue:

https://discussions.apple.com/thread/8109311?start=0&tstart=0

https://social.technet.microsoft.co...-no-longer-working-in-ios-11?forum=exch2016cm

https://github.com/lionheart/openradar-mirror/issues/18416

none of them point real culprit.

have several clients hosted microsoft directly (o365) , there no issue there. autodiscover works fine.

spoke friend told me 1 of huge enterprise clients runs on exchange, , there @ least 15k ios 11 devices connecting exchange server without these autodiscover issues.

tested outlook client on ios 11 morning , same behavior. no 1 seems getting behavior, on os x clients or ios 10 devices.

spoke colleague of mine said message pops in ios 11 specific regarding microsoft vs. "other". , not specific ios 11, outlook android acting in similar fashion.

appriver , rackspace both have similar setups: have forever been offering hosted exchange customers, offering microsoft 365 servers, except own "brand" , support goes through appriver/rackspace. i'm wondering if there's issue autodiscover having issue discerning what's in environment.

in case, it's impossible tell responsible issue. solution may yank clients off rackspace , place them microsoft directly.

sure bottom of this. right no 1 seems want claim responsibility.

thanks
erik

hey there!

after further investigation:

before ios 11, autodiscover first come across port 80 allow hosted exchange provider redirect request secure vip on f5.

requests mail app on port 443 , dropping other connections, causing problem.

hosted exchange provider can not include 443 hundreds of thousands of users continual certificate prompts due cname redirect done. can not target these irule port 443 encrypted , can not unencrypt traffic.

looks solution these hosted mail providers apple allow autodiscover request on http , port 80 again.
