Problem deleting past locations in apple maps

iphone 8 on 11.2.1.

when launch maps, shows list of places searched (not talking favorites). if swipe left, can remove them list. have 3 locations there (never dropped pins of them or that). can swipe/remove each one, remove final one, 1 of others deleted pops up. remove that, 1 of others pops up. can't remove locations, has keep one.

ive quit app , relaunched, restarted phone, reset ram, , updated 11.2.1 (it did on prior software release too).
