24" Early 2008 iMac Upgrades

hi there. hoping recommendations on parts buy in order upgrade imac. understand should sell , replace current desktop humor idea of upgrading as can within fair budget of course.

ultimately, run high sierra , bootcamp windows 10 on device. apparently 1 can after meeting base hardware , system requirements each respective os. also, have windows 7 install disk so, update 10 shouldn’t difficult.

of now, use imac school , personal work, media consumption, youtube , netflix. after taking consideration suggestions of forum, breath new air system making overall faster , adding option of light gaming it.


early 2008 24" imac - specs:

· os x el capitan (10.11.6)

· processor: 3.06 ghz intel "core 2 duo"

· memory: 2gb (800 mhz ddr2 sdram, pc2-6400)

· graphics: nvidia geforce 8800 gs 512 mb

· storage: 3.5" 500gb hdd



potential upgrades:

· samsung 850 evo 500gb 2.5-inch sata iii internal ssd

· 6gb kit (2gb x 4gb) ram


know because of age, going limited in number of changes can make system but, based on other forums, apparently 1 can upgrade cpu, , add external gpu, in addition ram , storage. please comment below if have other part suggestions or insights. thank you.

 

it’s ten years old nothing can add worth cost of parts , time , effort performing upgrades , fact won’t make machine better makes doubly pointless. fast booting , app opening , ability run multiple apps mean nothing when core 2 duo processor , ancient graphics aren’t job of modern computing.

money spend far better spent towards new computer 5 year old imac, 2012, far better investment of money.
