Help deciding on new Macbook Pro


so have 2015 mbp 2.7ghz. use work daily when visit stores (retail district manager). means alot of ms office, web browser , basic stuff that.

use movies , light gaming when travel work.

looking @ 2016 refurb mbp tb $1,349 in refurb store on apple store

vs

2017 mbp ntb 2.3ghz new through our work discount program $1,409.

starting think how use laptop touchbar might of no real benefit me other seems nice have.

thoughts on decision? know tb version has better cooling, faster ssd & faster processor not sure use reap benefits of
 

for use, honestly, longer battery life of ntb model worth more faster performance under load of tb model imho. larger battery combined lower tdp cpu (15w instead of 28w) should provide @ least hour of battery life.

here's odd one! 1 of our 2015 macbook air notebooks in office crashed , became unbootable after user clicked high sierra upgrade sierra on it. tried sorts of things working again, including both internet recovery , regular recovery. each time, partially install high sierra , stop error saying, "macos not installed on computer", followed specific error code mentioned in message subject line. have identically configured air (8gb ram, 512gb ssd, core i7) upgraded sierra high sierra without problems @ all, should work! thing able problem machine installing sierra usb thumb drive. did that, of user's data accessible again (nothing lost, thankfully!) , working normally. tried running high sierra upgrade again fresh app store download, hoping original issue stupid user powering computer off in middle of upgrade process. nope! exact same error , resulting unbootable machine. computer passes apple hardware tests flying colors , seems fine
