help printing from macOs to HP officejet printer

hello,

i'm having issue troubleshooting printing issue , hope has encountered , fixed same issue might able help.

have macbook latest high sierra , hp officejet 4658 multi-function printer connecting using home router (bt smart hub 6).

installed printer following hp instructions (i believe printer using airprint) , both print , scanner function work without problem.

issue is, after while (few hours or few days), print function stops working: macbook hangs on "looking printer" step and/or "failed connecting printer" error. @ same time, when happening, printer still connected wifi network, other devices can print. same macbook fails printing i'm able use scanner function.

seems point stuck macos printing systems, however:
- not able find sequence of steps on macbook solve problem , allow printing... after rebooting macbook printing problem persists
- action systematically seems fix problem reboot wifi router alone

has come across similar issue or has direction how troubleshoot issue?
