8 Plus versus X Thoughts

this not right/wrong thread.. intent provide people on fence either feedback or comments based on experience devices..

own 8+ , love it. before phone 6s+ favorite iphone.

initially, in no way interested in x. didn’t notch images on information superhighway. did not losing 7mm of screen width. did not idea of buying apple’s first oled. didn’t.. , don’t idea of faceid.

have spent 2 hours comparing phones @ local apple store , here thoughts.. in concise rambling form...

prefer weight of x on 8+. haven’t lifted in while bet can hang or best people here.. isn’t i-am-too-weak-to-hold-my-phone-up comment.. x feels nice , balanced in 1 hand.

prefer brightness of 8+ on x. tried everything.. disabling/enabling auto-brightness.. 8+ seems brighter. turned on/off true tone.. apple employee did not agree me , @ angles x looks brighter straight-on.. 8+ seemed have edge.

prefer text on screen of x. more crisp. can tell difference. thought interesting @ smallest text setting still fine. on 8+ use second smallest. on x go step below smallest.

screen of x seems ‘closer’. way know how explain ipad air vs ipad air 2.

camera.. not fair comparison since in store.. said 8+ took better images. specifically, tested in light , bad. took shot facing entrance store sun shining in. both images great. however, 8+ pulled more detail in shadows , on subjects in distance. example, there wa lady sitting outside brown hair , sunglasses. in x image, zoomed wouldn’t see sunglasses unless looked them. in 8+ image, contrast there see them. tree , leaves showed more detail in image 8+. said.. both images great shots.. 8+ ,on these limited shots, beat x pretty good. in bad backlit images.. 8+ showed better detail within store (tables). these images made me start checking display settings thinking there no way x wasn’t capturing detail.. thought darker screen on x.. not case.. images imo.

landscape.. have admit don’t use often. don’t mail or safari in landscape , don’t play games in landscape. watch movies. movies bigger (obvious) on 8+. movies not bad on x.. looked , looks yt has made updates. limited use of landscape has x in consideration.


have started taking assessment of ‘unused’ space on plus. in apps notes, safari, etc text.. there bit of unused space on edges.. , it’s width of plus advantage. advantage outside of movies? don’t know.

hardware.. blasted x not feel solid 8+. while lightness..something doesn’t feel rock solid plus. it’s shutting door on lexus versus yaris... going blasted... , camera looks funky.

overall..
obvoulsly both great phones great cameras , internals. in 2 hours did start prefer gestures on home button..being honest.

soooooo close wanting x.. keeps pushing me on top. don’t think it’s screen alone... think it’s love 8+ , feels solid.. , camera bad@$$.. can’t risk going x.. part of me wants shiny , new..
