pbs reports that in final year of obama administration department approved more 28,000 claims filed former students of cornithian colleges. claims totaled $558 million.

in june, npr reported attorneys general 18 states , washington, d.c., filed suit against devos , department, accusing devos of breaking federal law , giving free rein for-profit colleges rescinding borrower defense rule.

rule had been put on hold less 1 month after devos said agency re-evaluate it.​
